  • During our recently organised GemaQ summit for entrepreneurs in the petrol sector, we had the honour of welcoming Wiebe Wakker as our keynote speaker. And what a story he had to tell.

With his Plug Me In project, Wiebe drove (without any money in his pocket) in an electric car all the way from the Netherlands to Australia. His mission? To prove that electric transport does work, even with minimal resources. Along the way, he relied entirely on the help of others: for power, food, a place to sleep… and it worked. 95,000 km, 33 countries, 1 powerful message.

His journey is not only a testament to perseverance, but also a mirror for us all. How do we deal with change? How quickly do we switch to sustainable alternatives? And how can we achieve great goals with limited resources?

His story was an inspiration to everyone in the room. Precisely because it was not about technology or figures, but about vision, courage and trust.

Thank you, Wiebe, for your energy and impact. A message that will stay with us.

  • During Vaart in Diemen, we had Wiebe Wakker as a speaker. I found his adventure, a journey from Amsterdam to Sydney in an electric car, an interesting story and, as so often, I also took valuable lessons from it.

Wiebe was a student with no money, but still wanted to travel. Sustainability was just a hot topic at the time, so he found a creative solution: travelling in an electric car and asking for help with electricity, food and shelter along the way.

The result? A journey of more than three years, with many challenges, but through the attention it received in social media, also many highlights. Like a royal reception in Indonesia.

What I took away from his story:
    • Have a clear goal and stick to it. No matter how challenging it gets, keep focus on what you want to achieve.
    • Provide energy, both for your project and yourself. Just like a car that needs recharging, we also need rest, balance and a good network to be successful in the long run.
    • Dare to ask for help. Wiebe literally asked strangers for power and shelter along the way. It works the same way in entrepreneurship. Involve others in your plans and ask for help.
    • Think in terms of solutions. No charging stations in Italy? Wiebe found an alternative route via Norway. Stay creative and look at what can be done.
    • Celebrate your successes. It is important to reflect on your achievements. Successes give you energy and keep you motivated.

As host, I got to talk up the evening for our visitors. Quite an honour with such a speaker as Wiebe!

  • It was wonderful to host Wiebe as a speaker for one of our events. The insights and experiences he shared during the event was quite inspirational.

It’s incredible how he found a way to source his energy and resources for the trip from unknown people around the world.

To me, the overarching message through this adventure is PEOPLE HELP PEOPLE. Wish you many more adventures.

  • Wiebe managed to captivate our Lions Club members immensely with his story of what electric mobility is capable of.
In his own wonderfully humorous way, he took us on his journey and shared his experiences on how to deal with change and setbacks.

  • No mountain too high and no bridge too far! Wiebe shares some messages based on his extreme journey to the other side of the earth in an electric car:

    Trust in your fellow man!
    Why not take the adventure?
    Encountering yourself in repetitive habits
A very nice subcutaneous incentive to become more sustainable
    Entrepreneurship is perseverance

Interaction and humour (including self-mockery) are used to get the messages across… Happy to do it again Wiebe!

  • Range anxiety? You’ll soon be cured of that after a presentation by Wiebe! If you can make it in Australia with the Blue Bandit, you should also be fine in our little country with electric cars.

During a Lunch&Learn at Libra Energy, Wiebe told us his story and brought inspiration with great humour and perspective. A presentation from which everyone can get something for his/her own life!

  • Wiebe was our keynote speaker at our event for the members of Verhurend Nederland. That is an incredibly diverse group of people, from different companies and with very different backgrounds and interests. So who can give an appealing, humorous and inspiring presentation that all the guests will appreciate? Right. Wiebe!

With beautiful photos and videos, rock-solid stories, Wiebe takes you on his world tour in an electric VW Golf and convinces you and your guests how you can achieve an incredible amount with few resources through cooperation and optimism. And the fact that the Blue Bandit was along for the ride makes it all the more tangible.

So are you looking for a sincere speaker with an appealing, lively and inspiring presentation that is fun for everyone? Book Wiebe!

  • Recently I met Wiebe and invited him to tell his adventure for our company Diverz.

The story seems to be about his journey to prove that you can get to the other side of the world with an electric car. Through 33 countries and after 100,000 km of driving. Without money, always looking for bed, bread and a battery, plug me in. But the story is much more than a adventure and has imo another layer.

    His journey is much more about the personal transformation he went through;

    • about his view of humanity that changed because he saw that there was an enormous willingness to help
    • about his confidence in solving problems, because if he has already succeeded 99 times, there will be a solution for every subsequent problem
    • about his realization that sustainability really matters. Started as an alibi to make the trip, but at the end of the journey, sustainable travel is his motto
    • about his shift from an introvert to a well-known media figure who had to speak out
    • about his own boundaries and the impact of crossing those boundaries.

In short, a story full of inspiration about cooperation, hope and courage.

    Thanks Wiebe, we all enjoyed!

  • On 24 October we organised a so-called pressure cooker session. With the business community, young people, government and education, to come up with smart solutions for the changes in education and the labour market in relation to the energy transition.

To show how fast the world is changing and what is possible, we needed inspiration. We asked Wiebe for that. And this turned out to be great; the success of the day, for young and old. Afterwards, everyone wanted a photo with Wiebe and his signature.

  • What a beautiful story and presentation! Wiebe told us how he travelled through 34 countries with an electric car and without financial means.
His journey was not an easy one, one with many obstacles and challenges. In an energetic and funny way he told his story. Especially his message about sustainability came across strongly, a theme we work on every day within our organisation.

Wiebe met a lot of people and was able to share the purpose of his journey with the people met, which inspired and convinced a lot of people to start thinking more about sustainability.
He also inspired our team. I would highly recommend him as a speaker!

  • As an innovation centre in the creative industry, we are always looking for inspiration: Wiebe certainly gave us that.

With his story about his world trip in an electric car, he managed to enthuse the companies in the room and, not unimportantly, make them laugh. Wiebe speaks in a down-to-earth and spontaneous way and really stands as himself on the stage.
He makes you think, not only about sustainability but especially about jumping in at the deep end and going on an adventure.

I can heartily recommend Wiebe as a speaker in the business industry.

  • Wiebe’s inspiring story shows that reaching your goal does not only depend on a solid plan, a healthy dose of guts and a lot of perseverance.

Flexibility in dealing with unforeseen circumstances and plenty of humour are just as important – and this is reflected in Wiebe’s inspiring and entertaining presentation.

The insights Wiebe gained on his journey contain valuable lessons many organisations can benefit from in realising their goals. Highly recommended!

  • Recently, Wiebe Wakker gave an inspiring presentation for the Young Alfen organisation in Almere about his journey to the other side of the world in an electric car.

His talk took us through his road trip from start to finish. Wiebe knows how to look back on his journey in an engaging way and take the listener with him. Thus, you become part of the journey and accompanying cultural experiences and unexpected dilemmas that came his way.

The presentation provides food for thought on themes of personal development, perseverance and multicultural cooperation.

Range anxiety will have taken on a different meaning for many after Wiebe’s presentation.

  • Innovation, sustainability, inspiration, adventure, humour, life lessons and I could go on.

I enjoyed Wiebe’s presentation at Hoogheemraadschap Delfland about his trip to Australia and all the life lessons he learned from it. Extremely inspiring to hear Wiebe talk about the ups and downs and even though I will never make such a trip myself, the ‘journey’ and development of the person Wiebe is very recognisable.

Wiebe completely takes you into his car in just under 50 minutes and the joy of crossing the finish line was palpable even for me because I was so taken with him.

Wiebe thanks for your beautiful story, I wish and hope you may inspire many more people and I and many of my colleagues are eagerly awaiting your book!

  • What an inspiring story!

At our first physical meeting after a long time, we asked Wiebe to take us on his journey.

Wiebe was on stage as himself. Open and honest, with humour and lots of visuals, he makes you think. Wiebe taught us that there is no need to be afraid of the unknown. A little courage to take the plunge helps. He gives telling examples that make you realise again that you are always judging, where this is often wrong. With trust in the goodness of people, beautiful collaborations arise spontaneously.

Are you looking for an example where the goal is clear, but the journey is unknown? Do you simultaneously want to be made to think about following your dreams where sustainability is an important theme? I can recommend Wiebe to you.
